This week we visited Milestones Museum in Basingstoke. We've been there before a couple of times now and I love it when it gets to that stage with museums. When we first visit somewhere the children tend to hare through it at great speed barely taking anything in. Subsequent visits are slower and measured and they notice and take in far more.
We started with lunch! There is a lovely cafe, but we brought our own packed lunches and ate them in the special area provided upstairs.
After being briefly diverted by the penny arcade....
We then wandered around at the children's pace, stopping where their interest was piqued and sometimes doubling back.
Papaya found plenty of photo opportunities for her role as a Victorian child....
Then they found a game of Jeronimo! (one of Povey's favourite words!) that occupied them for a while...
We stopped off at the pub, which incidentally serves real pints so I must try and engineer a visit when I'm not driving so I can sample one!
Mostly we roamed the amazing streets noticing all the details...
Near the end there is a section showing homes through the decades. My favourite is the 1950s living room, we love 50s style, we even have that Green lady Print on our wall at home!
It also has comfy sofas perfect for some cuddles!
We had a wonderful few hours and the children are already talking about when we go again!
