What Home Education Looks Like - 24th March 2014

On Thursday the children wanted to try something they've seen Stampylongnose and Iballisticsquid do....

We decided on £5 or under each to buy ingredients to cook each other lunch, including pudding and a drink! They bought the ingredients for each other to cook, so Papaya bought what she would like to eat and then Povey cooked it for her and vice versa. They took it in turns to shop with me and then the bags were revealed when we got home.

Here is Povey's bag, and interesting assortment, but as you can see he only spent £3.69!

....and here is Papaya's bag; a far more nutritious assortment and she spent £4.34. I was impressed with how much she got actually, enough to feed all of us!

Gotta love Lidl for giving them value for money!

Povey decided to use Papaya's ingredients to make a smiley face sandwich and he grated the chocolate into her yoghurt.

Papaya mixed together the hotdogs and beans and heated them up with some sneaky sweetcorn and cheese from the fridge!

Then they chowed down!

We're planning to do another challenge involving more actual cooking in the future but it was interesting to see the choices they made and the pleasure they took in preparing meals for each other.
