Two days, three museums!
We had an organised trip to the National Maritime museum so got there on the DLR, with a quick opportunity for acrobatics.
We were there for a Viking workshop but got a bonus talk from this lovely chap all about the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition. He had actually done all the artwork himself.
We also got to use the interactive tablets on the Great Map, a favourite part.
Oh and of course the sailing simulator. Although I couldn't watch as it made me feel seasick!
Finally it was the workshop. Very interesting as we learned things we hadn't known.... like for example that the trading ships were called a Knarr. The children all got to try trading like the Vikings would with replica artefacts. Then two people were chosen to dress as Vikings..... Papaya and Povey! The workshop leader didn't even realise they were siblings when she picked them.
The clothes looked very comfortable and Papaya now wants me to make her a set ;)
As we were in Greenwich we decided to get our dinner at the market.....
...and also did a little shopping. This is the dinosaur Povey got after we took it back to the London flat.
I gave them free reign as to where we went on the Friday and they decided they wanted to take the new dinosaur along to the Natural History Museum to meet the big dinosaurs.
We had a look around the rest of the museum too...
....grabbed an (overpriced ) tea....
...and managed to fit in the Science Museum too; with a space capsule built from Lego...
...and lots of interactive learning.
The thermal imaging camera was particularly interesting, as you can see that Povey, on the right, looks normal, but I have very cold nose and fingertips, showing as blue. No wonder I've always got cold hands.
