Saturday 11th we did something a bit different. We got up early (for us!) and all four went to some woods in Liphook for a Bushcraft class at Woodcraft School .
Our tutors had themselves been training in those woods 5 days (and nights!) and week for the past year. We were there for them to practice teaching. There was a large Scout group as well and there were meant to be other home educating families there too but they didn't make it so we had lessons all to ourselves! We started with learning about tracks and finding some. Then we did some basket weaving from strips of bark....
Then was lunch and some impromptu fire starting...
...then after lunch was foraging...
....and finally a lesson on building shelter, including a challenge to make a quick shelter from bin bags that could survive a bucket of water!
We learned tons and had a thoroughly lovely and peaceful (but surprisingly tiring) day.
