Lego Mania at Milestones!
Today we stopped off to pick up one of the children's friends, and then headed to Milestones Museum in Basingstoke (one of our favourites) for their annual "Lego Mania"!
The whole museum becomes invaded by Lego, with models everywhere, even ones you can touch and hold!
The brilliant Bright Bricks were there building a 4 metre long vintage truck!
As always at these places the kids first wanted to do a speedy tour, just to suss where everything was! On the way we saw some amazing models!
Westminster Abbey.....
The Olympic Stadium!
A huge Castle!
The Empire State Building!
Boba Fett!
I love Povey's face in this next one!
Povey went racing over to this and said "Wow! A Sopwith Camel".... I didn't even know he knew what that was!
This is Basing House, the model Bright Bricks created at Lego Mania last year.
Portrait of the Duchess of Cambridge!
Display of all the Hobbit Lego...
Before heading back round again, this time with a "Minifigure Trail" to follow, asking us questions about the things on display, whilst at each point we had to spot the hidden minifigure.
Duncan Titmarsh at the Bright Bricks table had told us to also look out for the Looney Toons charecters so we spotted Marvin the Martian...
....and the one Povey really wanted to find..... Tweetie Pie!
At that point we headed back to the Bright Bricks building area and Povey excitedly built his own version of Tweetie Pie (from memory!) to give to Duncan Titmarsh as he recognised his name from The Lego Ideas Book and was super impressed!
The lovely man totally made Povey's day by putting his Tweetie Pie model in pride of place on his work table!
The children then spent hours just building! making a whole world!
We'll be going back there again before the month is out. Such a great day!

He was in a whole Star wars section with a display of some of the sets you can buy to make yourself...

Once we'd whizzed around it all we stopped briefly for our packed lunch.....

I'm pleased to say they helped the staff tidy up before we left too :D
Here's one final photo of the Lego Gang with a tower they built out of huge Lego bricks!

What Home Education Looks Like - 1st March 2013
When one of the children just spontaneously decides to take on a project that involves so much prep, thought, skills and creativity that I can really see how this home education thing works!
We were going to visit friends and Papaya decided we needed to bake cookies....
....AND made a card!
A nice reminder for me, not only how industrious she can be, but also how caring and thoughtful :)
We were going to visit friends and Papaya decided we needed to bake cookies....
Then she decided the cookies needed a basket and fashioned one of her own design out of card.....
......she also cross-stitched a soft version of the cookies to go in the pocket....
....AND made a card!
