On Monday we surprised the children with a family educational trip to Legoland. We normally only go to Legoland once a year as it's so very expensive and it takes us a while to save up. I just discovered though that on certain days they have special rates for home educators, and they also run workshops.
We made the children wear masks so they couldn't see where we were going and amused ourselves pointing things out of the window to throw them off the scent!
The children were so surprised and excited when we finally let them take off their masks. Once there we had an hour to ourselves before two educational workshops, lunch another workshop and then two more hours to do our own thing.
The workshops were.....
We Do - Brilliant! All about computers and the children got to create their own little robot and program it.
Energy - All about renewable energy and they created a little battery powered car.
Atlantis - which was linked to the ride and taught them about fish and how they adapt to their different habitats.
It drizzled all day but wasn't too bad, and we had a wonderful time. What was particularly nice was that the whole place had been themed to Hallowe'en which is just coming up, so it made it different to the trip we'd taken back in the summer for Povey's birthday. It was also so nice for my hubby to get a chance to join in with some home education stuff. It was pretty full on having all those workshops in a row though. I think that maybe next time I would just book one or two workshops and then theme the rest of our time there to the workshop. We'll definitely be going again next year!
